Western Red Cedar Timber Care & Maintenance
The surfaces of Real Cedar outdoor projects will inevitably suffer from dirt, mold and mildew issues. If not dealt with, these natural elements will slowly erode any finish applied to western red cedar. Consequently, all finishes applied to cedar require regular cleaning and maintenance. The degree of maintenance depends on local climatic conditions, the type of finish and end use. For more detailed info, please see our section on Outdoor Care & Maintenance.
Construction and interior applications, meanwhile, require very little upkeep. However, treating Real Cedar timber inside with an indoor-friendly finish is highly recommended for two reasons:
- It will prolong the wood’s natural beauty and
- It will make cleaning surfaces considerably easier.
