Untreated Real Cedar will eventually weather into a beautiful silver-grey patina that has its own distinct architectural appeal. Choosing some form of protective finish will prevent surface degradation, and since Real Cedar is pitch and resin-free with a high degree of dimensional stability, it really is the best soft wood for accepting paints, stains, oils and other coatings. Consequently, there’s a finishing product for every taste. But it’s important to know what type of finish is best suited to your particular project.
